I'm thinking about redoing my driveway next spring, and I'm trying to weigh my options. I’ve seen some really nice driveways around here that aren’t your typical asphalt or concrete. Some look like they have gravel, but it’s… smoother, somehow? Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with alternative driveway surfaces. What did you go with, and how has it held up over time? I'm particularly interested in how they handle snow and ice, since we get a fair amount of that here during the winter months. Long-term maintenance is something I'm definitely considering, too.

In response to your question about alternative driveway surfaces, I do have some experience with resin driveways. We had one installed about three years ago, and we’ve been generally happy with it. It definitely has that smoother look you described, almost like the gravel is "set" in something. I think you might find what you are looking for at https://www.theresinbondedslabcompany.co.uk/. They also offer Diy Kits and other options, which is what got us interested to begin with. Our resin driveway handles snow and ice pretty well, and it’s been fairly low maintenance so far.
